The Shires | UberLive

8 shows. 6 cities. 1 night. Uber partnered with Sofar Sounds to present UberLIVE, 8 intimate concerts on-demand in six cities across the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Chart topping UK Country duo The Shires performed a secret show last night in London as part of UberLive – a one day on-demand promotion which saw Uber host secret gigs, attended exclusively by Uber users and hosted in 6 different cities across the UK including: Newcastle, Manchester, Leeds and London.  The event was in partnership with live music video platform: Sofar Sounds, who helped coordinate the innovative, live music experience.

The Shires played an intimate capacity show, hosted at a small studio in Peckham, and wowed a packed audience of Uber users, many of whom got their first taste of UK Country music.

Ben Earle and Crissie Rhodes of The Shires who joined several other acts performing at the multi-city event including Fyfe Dangerfield, Mt Wolf and Swim Deep stated: “It was fantastic to be invited to perform at UberLive, it’s such a unique and innovative event, we’ve never seen anything like it!!”

Across participating cities, Uber users received free rides to attend secret shows featuring rising and established music stars, connecting their riders in the UK and Ireland with great music, in their own cities. The on-demand promotion was in partnership with Sofar Sounds a global music community of over 100 cities, hosting intimate performances in secret locations to rooms of devoted music fans and industry tastemakers all around the world. Tom Lovett, Sofar Sounds stated“Sofar Sounds is all about the magic that happens when you bring great people together to do great things, in new and exciting ways around their city. Partnering with Uber for UberLIVE gives us the opportunity to further do just that - allowing more music lovers to discover the Sofar experience in the process.”

Ol' Silver Tongue

Today I heard about a great new garage rock duo all the way from Oakland, CA - Ol' Silver Tongue. Members C. McCock and Boronkadonk only met in 2014 and quickly they began making music.

I was given the opportunity to listen to their debut EP Nobody Special before it is released on June 27th. On first listen I can hear many influences from successful rock acts including Jack White.

Duo's are doing well in rock at the moment, UK duo Royal Blood are conquering the world at the moment. I can see Ol Silver Tongue following in their footsteps for sure!

Check out their song Devil's Breath here
